This Mexican restaurant offers an authentic culinary escape for locals and travelers craving bold, flavorful alternatives to the city's famed pasta and pizza.

The menu highlights an array of thoughtfully crafted dishes, with standout options like the housemade guacamole served alongside freshly made tortillas, perfectly crisp yucca fries, and the hearty carnitas paired with rice and beans, which caters to gluten-free diners. The guacamole and chips exemplify the freshness and authenticity you can expect here, making them a perfect starter or snack. For those who enjoy vibrant beverages, the Michelada and refreshing margaritas complement the meal with a traditional Mexican twist.

The space is bright and colorful, designed to evoke the spirited essence of Mexico, offering a cheerful contrast to Rome’s historic surroundings. This creates a welcoming environment where diners can unwind and enjoy a genuine Mexican experience without leaving Italy.

One of the restaurant’s greatest strengths is its attentive and friendly staff. Reviews consistently highlight the genuine hospitality and passion of team members like Soleil, Anna, and manager Rodrigo, who ensure every guest feels like a valued friend. This personal touch elevates the dining experience, making it memorable beyond the kitchen.

El Tiburon Navona is especially well-suited for those seeking authentic Mexican flavors in a cosmopolitan setting. It’s a treasure for Mexican expatriates missing the tastes of home, as well as adventurous food lovers in Rome looking to explore beyond Italian cuisine. The menu’s clear labeling of vegetarian options also speaks to its inclusivity and attention to diverse dietary needs.

This restaurant is a gem in the big bustling city of Italian food. While Italian food is delicious, sometimes you just need some good quality Mexican food. This is the place! The food is amazing … the staff is friendly … and, the atmosphere was bright and colorful (just like Mexico). Being from California, we know Mexican food … and this food is outstanding! From the margaritas, chips & salsa, birria tacos, to the chicken verde enchiladas … everything was delicious!

Great place to have drinks with good food. The service was great and the manager Rodrigo was specially kind and welcoming. Would definitely recommend it for my fellow mexicans missing home or for adventurous palates that want good mexican food in Rome.

If you’re in Rome and craving something other than pasta and pizza, El Tiburon Navona is an absolute gem! This Mexican restaurant completely exceeded my expectations — the food, service, and atmosphere were all outstanding. From the moment we walked in, the energy of this place felt warm and vibrant. The flavors were authentic, fresh, and bursting with personality — every dish tasted like it was made with care and passion. But what truly made the experience memorable were the people. Soleil and Anna took care of us, and I can’t say enough about how amazing they were. Friendly, attentive, and full of genuine warmth, they made us feel like old friends instead of just guests. Their smiles, enthusiasm, and impeccable service turned a great dinner into an unforgettable evening. It’s rare to find staff who love what they do and make you feel so welcome, but Soleil and Anna do it effortlessly. The atmosphere is relaxed but lively — the kind of place where you can unwind, enjoy a great meal, and soak in the fun energy of the Navona area. Whether you’re a local or a traveler, this spot is a refreshing change of pace and a must-visit for anyone who loves bold flavors and true hospitality. Five stars all the way. Thank you, Soleil and Anna, for making our night special — you’re the heart of this place!

The food was absolutely delicious — especially the basmati rice with shrimp and garlic. The shrimp were huge and perfectly cooked. I asked for a spicy sauce, and the lady went out of her way to make a fresh bowl just for me — it was incredibly flavorful and added the perfect kick. Although they seemed a bit short-staffed, one lady stood out for being exceptionally helpful and kind. The restaurant itself is stunning — one of the most beautifully designed Mexican spots I’ve seen. Definitely worth a visit!

This place was so good! My husband was missing Mexican food during our vacation and we decided to try El Tiburon out. I’m glad we did! The sangria, nachos, and burrito were all delicious. There are a lot of vegetarian options and they are clearly marked on the menu. If this restaurant were in my city, I would totally go all the time!

After 10 days across italy we needed a break from various versions of Italian food and this place popped up in our search for alternate cuisines. Reservations are tough, as you need to call in and there is no proper response des. However we lucked out as the phone was handed over to a person who understood English and were able to secure a reservation for Friday night. On arrival at 7.30 the place was already full and they needed a few minutes to get us a table. But what followed was wonderful. We tried their Nachos, four types of tacos, a fajita mains and a sopes and everything hit the spot. The favouring, the cooking, the textures, everything was excellent. On the drinks we liked their Michelada but not their Mexican old fashioned. The service can be slow and we were told that the next reservation for our table was at 9.30.. which I think was nor called for.. but hey giving them the benefit of doubt.. they were busy. The decor and ambience was lively and is more reminiscent of tex mex restaurants in the US. All in all a very fun place with flavourful food, that is truly a good break from the Italian fare you will find all around.
